The Police Foundation is a national think-tank that evaluates and recommends law enforcement practices, policies, and tactics in the pursuit of crime reduction in our communities. Formed 45-years ago by the Ford Foundation, we are the oldest nationally-known not-profit dedicated to advancing policing through innovation and science. In short, we utilize some of the nation’s preeminent social scientists to evaluate law enforcement practices to improve public safety.
Last year we were commissioned by the Orange County Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership’s non-profit arm to evaluate the organization’s mission of “preventing targeted at-risk minors from joining criminal street gangs and enable them to graduate from high school free from destructive criminal behavior.”
Nearly 10 percent of California students self-report gang membership.
